Expository Text

      

On Monday my classmates and I learned the Expository text. The teacher taught us that “it is meant to deposit the information and it uses words that clearly show what the author is talking about”.

      Then the teacher assigned worksheet for us. It had two exercises, the first was about The Internet and Society, it told about the impacts of the Internet and Society. The second was about how to cope with insomnia. In my opinion, both of exercises were quite difficult. Fortunately, the teacher explained it clearly and I tried to understand, so I finished it on time to end of class.

My impression of the teacher

       In my mind, teacher is really nice because her teaching gave me a lot of new knowledge, she made me understand about very lesson and she made each class was interesting. Sometimes,   if I don't understand something, the teacher will explain it immediately. So, I would like to say thank you for her teaching and I promise I will improve my English skills to be better than this.

Problem and Solution

       

       On Monday morning, my teacher taught my friends and me in a new lesson. Our teacher taught us that Problem and Solution is a pattern of organization where information in passage is expressed a dilemma or concerning issue and something that was, can be, or should be done to remedy this issue. 

It was a bit hard to understand but our teacher explained really clearly.

       

Then the teacher assigned an exercise for us, it quite easy, so we finished it quickly. After we finished the teacher gave homework for us .Each items in the homework has many difficult words.

       I think I have to try to it. Today was really nice because teacher taught very clearly and everyone in class looked fresh. 

Exemplification

              On Sunday morning, my friends and I had to come to University for making up my class. Today, my teacher taught us about Exemplification. In this pattern, an author uses some example to support or illustrate the main idea.

         Exemplification uses specific, vivid examples for the purpose of adding more in for information to explain, persuade, define, or illustrate a general idea.

         Then our teacher assigned an exercise for us. The exercise was quite easy but it had many items and we had to complete it before lunch.

       

         In the afternoon, I had a presentation I was really nervous about it .

I presented how to make eggs with tamarind sauce. I think I did it not well enough because I was nervous and excited about my presentation, I just hope that my point will be good and teacher sympathize with me.

Definition and classification

      Definition and classification

       On Monday, the teacher taught a new lesson for my classmate and me .The new lesson is Definition and classification.

      The teacher taught us that Definition and classification can help our academic reading. Then teacher assigned an exercise for us, each items in the exercise wasn't easy for me. Luckily, the teacher taught us about Definition and classification markers before, so I finished my assignment.

       After that, my classmate had to present their cooking. Some group was nervous but some group had confident. I think they did it very well. At the end, teacher assigned homework for us and appointed us for studying on next Sunday.

Cause and Effect

           

                    Yesterday, my classmates and I learned a discourse Approach in Reading. The teacher taught us about cause and effect, it is use to show how the facts, events or concepts.

           We also did an exercise. It is about cause and effect of Titanic story. In my opinion, it wasn't difficult to understand because I've ever seen this movie and the teacher explained it very clearly. So, we understood it and finished the exercise. 

              I was happy because when the teacher taught us, she often smiles. Everyone in class was happy too.

Comparison and Contrast ( Past II )

          

                       

       Today, my classmates and I learned Comparison and Contrast. The teacher gave a worksheet for us. It was about speaking language of men and women. 

              In my opinion, Women are more verbally skilled than men. The female brain excels in verbal tasks whereas the male brain is better adapted to visual-spatial and mathematical tasks. Women like to talk; men prefer action to words. Men's goals in using language tend to be about getting things done, whereas women's tend to be about making connections to other people. Men talk more about things and facts, whereas women talk more about people, relationships and feelings.

        I think speaking language of men and women was really interested but it is a bit difficult for me because it had nine paragraphs and every paragraph had many difficult vocabularies. I tried to do it, so I finished it.

       At the end of the class, we had three groups presented their cooking. Each group is very good. Especial, group two, they had a good performance and they spoke English well.

                           Comparison and contrast

Comparison and Contrast & Examination

      

            Yesterday, we had an examination. It was really difficult. I was very nervous. I thought, I can do it but not good. I hope, I will pass my examination. 
           After we finished, the teacher started to teach us about the comparison and contrast. She taught us how to find the main idea and discourse marker in the paragraph. In my opinion, this lesson is quite difficult for me because I didn't know the meaning of vocabularies in the paragraph. So, I had to use the dictionary to find the meaning of the vocabularies. That’s sure, I understood and finished my exercise. 
           Before the end of the class, three groups in class had to present their cooking .I was really enjoy with their work because they did their presentation very well.
